Supreme Court Judgment: All parties will work together to win 2023 elections – Obaseki

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has assured that all the parties to the case that was decided by the Supreme Court on Friday, would work together under one umbrella to emerge victorious in the 2023 general elections.

Obaseki gave the assurance after inspecting the ongoing renovation work at the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission’s Headquarters (EDSIEC) in Benin City, the State capital, on Saturday, October 1, 2022.

The governor who was accompanied on the inspection by the Secretary to the State Government, Osarodion Ogie Esq., and his Chief of Staff, Hon. Osaigbovo Iyoha, said: “The Supreme Court judgment will help the party put all the issues at rest and come together as a family to mobilize and focus on the main agenda for the party now, which is to win the presidential election come 2023.”

He added: “We are one family and will work together whatever our differences. We will all still carry the umbrella. We are here to see the preparedness of EDSIEC in terms of their infrastructure to conduct the local government election.”

Recall that in a judgment on Friday, a five-member panel headed by Justice Amina Augie of the apex court, affirmed the earlier judgment of the Court of Appeal and held that the subject of the appeals were issues on which the court lacked jurisdiction, because they relate to the internal affairs of political party.
