Improved Land Administration and Land Investment Process in Edo State

Doing Business records the procedures, time and cost required for a small or medium-size business to obtain the approvals needed to acquire a landed property and develop it. The level of information includes all inspections and certificates required before, during and after the acquisition of land.

DLI 1: Improved transparency and sustainability in the property registration and land-based investment process

Publish on state official website:

(i) the process for obtaining C of Os including all relevant MDAs, time frames and costs; and

(ii) the process for obtaining Construction Permits including all relevant MDAs, time frames and costs; and

(iii) number of C of Os registered (1 January 2012 – 30 November 2021); and number C of Os digitized and indexed in a digital archive registered (1 January 2012 – 30 November   2021) and number of female owned or joint/co-owned C of Os registered (1 January 2021 – 30 November 2021).

DLI 6: Improved domestic and external trade competitiveness

States currently have overlapping licensing requirements and fragmented information leading to potential discretionary behaviours. There is a need to articulate relevant trade and business information accessible in Edo State’s official digital platform for the public.

Increased Sustainable Large-scale Investments in Edo State

This indicator measures the role of an Investment Promotion Agency in equipping potential investors with the required information to aid their business decisions. The second component of the indicator assesses how the state uses its information services to disseminate information of value to the business community.

DLI 4: Improved investment promotion environment:

Publish on state official website: Inventory of all investment incentives (Federal and State) available in the State, including information on

(i) legal reference instrument,

(ii) sectors,

(iii) eligibility criteria,

(iv) description of benefits,

(v) duration,

(vi) awarding and implementing agency, and

(vii) year when the incentive was introduced.
