Obaseki, Osinbajo, Obasanjo, others extol exemplary life of Dapo Abiodun’s late father

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki; his Ekiti, Lagos, Ondo, Kebbi and Kwara State counterparts, Kayode Fayemi, Babajide Sanwoolu, Rotimi Akeredolu, Sen. Abubakar Bagudu and AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, respectively, have extolled the life of service of late Pa Emmanuel Adesanya Abiodun, the father of Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, who died aged 89.

Other dignitaries present at the funeral and thanksgiving service for the governor’s late father, at Diocese of Remo Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), St. James’ Anglican Church, Iperu-Remo, Ogun State, are Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, former President Olusegun Obasanjo and General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye.

Obaseki, who spoke to journalists, described the late Adesanya Abiodun as a teacher of teachers who impacted knowledge not only on his children but his entire family, society, community, state and the nation at large.

According to him, “the life and time of late Pa Emmanuel Adesanya Abiodun is that of life of service to the people. He contributed a lot to humanity; impacting positively his family, church, society, community, state and nation at large.

“He lived an exemplary life worthy of emulation, not only by his children but by all who crossed his path while he was alive.”

The governor, while urging the children to be united in love and ensure they keep their father’s legacy alive, described the late Abiodun “as a man that loved and feared God, as it can be seen in the lives of his children and successes they have recorded in their various chosen careers.”

On his part, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo said “Papa gave back to society, becoming teacher of teachers and imparting knowledge to transform the lives of people who met him. He gave an inheritance of the gospel of Christ to his children and the society; generations yet unborn will enjoy this gift.”

Governor Fayemi noted that “we are here to celebrate the life of a great man who has imparted knowledge to this generation. He has produced great children who will surely keep his legacy alive.”

The eldest son of the deceased and Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun said “the legacy my father left behind is that of humility, love, sacrifice and service to humanity. He taught us; his children, that it pays to serve the Lord.”

Delivering a sermon titled ‘Heaven Is A Place To Be’, the Archbishop Ecclesiastical Province of Lagos and Diocesan Bishop of Remo, the Most Rev. Olusina Fade, described the late Abiodun as a true and complete Christian who never faked Christianity, but followed the tenets of Christ, focusing on heaven as the home for the righteous.
