Obaseki moves to fix infrastructure deficit, collects data for devt planning

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has embarked on an enumeration exercise targeted at collecting relevant data for development planning with the ultimate goal of fixing infrastructure deficit and engendering sustainable development.

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Mr. Chris Abode said that the exercise is in alignment with the government’s plans to source relevant base data from residents to ensure that its development efforts meet the most crucial needs of residents in urban centres and new towns in the state.

According to him, “The Edo State Government has embarked on an expansive exercise to collect key data to drive development planning. We are not unaware of the expansion of the cities across the state. New towns are sprouting by the day as development is expanding.

“This is why the Edo State Government is keen on collecting data from the residents so as to generate accurate data about where the people live; what they do and how they move and interact. This is essential to evolving a real-time database. This is why enumerators are out on the streets to collect data to achieve the governor’s plan to Make Edo Great Again (MEGA).

“We hereby appeal to the people to ensure to submit accurate data to the enumerate so as to achieve the aim of bringing development closer to them and evolving a system that has the interest of the people at the centre of government’s programmes and policies.”
