  5. Obaseki charges alma mater’s alumni association

Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has challenged members of Eghosa Anglican Grammar School Old Boys Association (EGHOBA) to give back to their alma mater to enable her provide quality education to future generations of students.

Receiving executive Members of EGHOBA on a courtesy visit to Edo State Government House in Benin City, the state capital, Governor Obaseki rued the level of decay in the school stating that the school would become defunct if the problem and challenges facing the school were not properly addressed.

He advised members of the school’s Old Boys’ Association to seize the opportunity of the upcoming 60th anniversary to critically examine challenges facing the school and proffer solutions to them, as well as concentrate solely on the development of the school.

He said, “I want us to come together to strengthen the school by addressing the challenges facing it, or else whatever fund we raise to develop the school will surely be wasted. In terms of performance and facilities, Eghosa Grammar school is the least of the three schools established by the government, we must do all we can to address the challenges facing our alma mater.

“I am more inclined to giving back to the school rather than focusing on the old boys of the school, as most of us are doing well in the society, and the question we all should ask ourselves is, ‘is our school doing well?’”

Meanwhile, the leader of the delegation and Chairman of Edo State Branch of EGHOBA, Rt. Rev. Osama Osualele, hailed the governor’s leadership style adding that the people of the state were already singing his praises based on his performance.
