In a statement, Head, Corporate Communications, EIRS, Courage Eboigbe, said the suspects were arrested at the spot where their nefarious activities were perpetuated.

According to him, “The Enforcement Team of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) arrested eight (8) persons suspected to be involved in illegal revenue collection in Orogho Community, Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State.

“The suspects were arrested right at the spot where their nefarious activities are carried out.

“The arrest was at the heels of complaints received from concerned Edolites who suspected that their modus operandi was illegal.”

He added, “Upon interrogation, the suspects could neither identify themselves as Staff of the EIRS nor agents of the State. Items found on the eight suspects during the arrest were unaccounted sums of money.”
