Edo to Establish Primary Healthcare Centers in all Wards as Patients’ Wellbeing Takes Centre Stage 

While highlighting the five essential pillars of the reforms at the Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency (ESPHCDA) which include Infrastructural upgrade; Human Resource Development; Effective Drug Revolving Program; Community participation; and Governance structure

Following the recent inauguration of the governing board of the Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency (EDSPHCDA), the Executive Secretary, Dr. Omosigho Izedonmwen has reiterated the government’s commitment to establishing at least one primary healthcare center in every ward in the State to strengthen healthcare service delivery.
He announced this during the week while speaking with journalists in his office.
Dr Omosigho noted that the Edo State Government is committed to ensuring that primary healthcare is more efficient and retains its position as the entry point to the health system in the State.
While highlighting the five essential pillars of the reforms at the Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency (ESPHCDA) which include Infrastructural upgrade; Human Resource Development; Effective Drug Revolving Program; Community participation; and Governance structure; Izedonmwen emphasised that the Agency has set up Local Health Authorities across the 18 LGA’s to coordinate the communities on health-related issues and to identify health challenges for early intervention.
Following the maiden board meeting of the ESPHCDA, which was held during the week, the agency has also highlighted the need to prioritize patient wellbeing as the bedrock of primary health care.
The emphasis was made by the Chairman of the Board, Dr. Felix Ogedegbe during his opening remarks.
He appealed to the staff of the agency to develop a new approach to service delivery that would enhance responsive, efficient, and accessible healthcare service delivery across primary healthcare centers in Edo State.
The Board also inaugurated eleven board members who are; Dr. Felix Ogedegbe (Chairman), Dr. Omosigho Izedonmwn(Secretary), Mrs. Dorcas.A.Idehen(MLGC&CA), Pharm. Iboi Friday(PSN), Mr. Lazarus Adorolo (NULGE), Mr. Awoko Joel (NACHPH, EDO), Mrs.Catherine.O.Eseine (NANNM)
Dr. Usiosefe.A.Ererimwen (Rep.NMA), Dr.Daniel.O.Aideyan (Rep. NAHE),
Dr. Stanley Ehianrimwian (SMOH), and
Mr. Solomon Imiohiosen (Ministry of Communication& Orientation).
