Edo govt builds, hands over new posts to Police Command

The Edo State Government has built and handed over three new police posts to the Edo State Police Command, as part of efforts to improve security in the state and ensure the protection of lives and property of citizens.

The newly built police posts are situated at Evhuarhue Community in Orhionmwon Local Government Area (LGA) of the State; Obayantor Community in Ikpoba Okha LGA, and Ekehuan Village in Ovia North East LGA.

Chairman, Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Area Development Commission (EDSOPADEC), Pastor Kennedy Osifo, presented the keys of the police posts in Evhuarhue, Obayantor and Ekenhuan communities to the Edo State Police Commissioner, Mr. Philip Ogbadu.

The EDSOPADEC boss also led other members of the board to inspect the ongoing construction of a police station at Idogbo Community in Ikpoba-Okha LGA.

Osifo reassured that the commission would continue to support the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led government in ensuring that infrastructural development is evenly spread across the state.

He said EDSOPADEC, in the last few years, has embarked on the construction of numerous roads, schools, healthcare centres, markets and other infrastructural projects to improve the livelihood of Edo people, noting that the construction of the police posts will further advance the government’s efforts at combating crime.

On his part, Ogbadu hailed the state government for the project, noting that the security infrastructure will help the officers to effectively carry out their constitutional duties of securing lives and property.

Some members of the benefiting communities, who spoke to journalists, expressed their gratitude to the state government and the commission.

A resident of Obayantor Community, Solomon Uwadia, said the opening of the police post in the area will address the problem of insecurity in the community.
