COVID-19 3rd wave: Death of unvaccinated persons rise to 19, as Edo records four more deaths, 28 new cases

Edo State has recorded the deaths of four more persons who have not been inoculated with the COVID-19 vaccines, bringing the total number of unvaccinated persons who have died in the third wave of the pandemic in the state to 19.

Head of the state’s COVID-19 Case Management, Dr Ebomwonyi Osagie, disclosed this on Friday during a press briefing at the Government House, in Benin City.

Osagie, who reiterated the need for citizens to get vaccinated to get protected against the deadly virus, noted that the state also recorded 28 new cases and zero recoveries.

According to him, “We have recorded 28 new cases of COVID-19, no recoveries, and four more deaths of unvaccinated persons within the last 24 hours.”

On his part, Permanent Secretary, Edo State Ministry of Health, Dr. Osamwonyi Irowa, said efforts are being made to vaccinate teachers ahead of school resumption.

Irowa further said there was the need for parents to also get vaccinated so that they don’t get infected with the virus transmitted through their children.
