There can be no meaningful progress or development without peace and security of persons and property.
Cross-border robbers and other men of the underworld take undue advantage of Edo State's geographical location of being at the crossroads of the Western, northern, southern and eastern road axes to perpetrate havoc and fear.
In realization of this Governor Oserheimen Osunbor Administration's campaign promise to create a secure, peaceful and harmonious environment for social and economic development to thrive. Governor Osunbor has:
- Initiated an award scheme for gallantry worth N1million as compensation for both the injured and deceased in the special Anti-Robbery squad (SARS).
- Awarded the sum of N1million to the first son of Mr. Joseph Adaidu Abu, a police officer who died in active service foiling a robbery operation.
- Purchased 37 Hilux four wheel Drive Utility Vehicles, fitted with modern telecommunications gadgets for enhanced police operational use. The vehicles were handed over to the police authorities by Governor Oserheimen Osunbor at a ceremony in Government House, Benin City recently. A set of the Hilux four wheel Drive Utility Vehicles have been delivered to other law enforcement agencies in the state by the Governor Oserheimen Osunbor Administration.
Without peace and security of persons and property, there can be no meaningful progress or development. Edo State is invariably at the cross roads of the Western, northern, southern and eastern road axes. Cross- boundary robbers and other men of the underworld take undue advantage of this geographical location to converge on the state to operate and create an atmosphere of mayhem and fear.
Senator Osunbor has a vision of strengthening the state anti-robbery outfit of the Nigeria Police with the donation of more operational vehicles (including armoured personnel carriers) and telecommunications equipment and the reinvigoration of the state Neighbourhood Watch and the Edo State Vigilante service to complement the police and other security agencies. This will curtail the menace of interstate robbers and other hoodlums.
