COMRADE OSHIOMHOLE HOLDS TOWN HALL/MEETING
Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is holding a town hall/meeting with the people of Edo State. The town hall meeting which is being held at the Oba Akenzua Cultural Complex Centre has in attendance, several top government functionaries, traditional heads, media, students, e.t.c.
The meeting venue was filled to the brim with people from all strata from life.
The Comrade Governor explained that major road construction would start immediately the rains stopped. He stated that the funds for this exercise (about 13.5billion naira) have already been set aside in a bike in a dedicated account. He went into an in-depth analysis explaining that the dualisation of the airport road was necessary not only for aesthetics purposes but also because it is the first road that any visitor who enters the state via air would ply on. Against the backdrop of people speculating that he was planning to pull down the walls of the Oba Palace, Comrade Oshiomhole explained that the master plan diagram is now out and shows that the walls of the traditional palace would not in any way be tampered with.
Comrade Oshiomhole also explained that the roads that were to be built would be done with a futuristic view in mind. The roads would have walk byes for pedestrians as well as lights to ensure the roads are safe for walking and driving at night.
The funds for these projects the governor explained would come from the Internally Generated Revenue via taxes. Even with the falling amount of monthly allocation from the Federal Government, the Comrade Governor explained that the funds generated from taxation would be used to finance these projects. With enhanced tax collection, the monthly IGR has increased from about 320million Naira per month to around 900million naira which is an increase of 200%.
