1. As soon as Governor Oserheimen Osunbor assurmed office on May 29, 2007, he decided to continue the overhaul of the state owned Dr. Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium preparatory for the 2007/2008 NFL Globacom season and other events by providing:
(i) Four big gates
(ii) Four small gates
(iii) Inner fence
(iv) Roofing of State Box
(v) Airconditioning
(vi) Purchase of Mowers
(vii) Rehabilitation of Dressing Room

2. The governemnt in the past one year has encouraged international participation in sporting events. In one of such events including the 2007 African Individual Chess Championship in Windhoek, Nambia, two of the sportsmen sponsored by Edo State Goverment, Doris Omoragbon and Onabogun Kolade (both from Edo State came tops at the keenly contested international chess extravaganzal Both won the title of FIDE MASTER

(3) The Administration, in July last year, sponsored athletes to the 8th All African Games held in Algiers where Edo sportsmen and women won Gold, Silver and Bronze medals for the nation.

(4) As part of measures to encourage its youths in participation in sports, the government sponsored athletes to the 1st and 2nd Phases of the International Relay for the Beijing Olympic TRIALS and promised to take them through 3rd, 4th and 5th Phases.

(5) The government also took its players to the DARTS Championship in February 2008 with assurance to participate at the June 2008 tournament.

(6) Within the past one year, the policy on sports has been all embracing with the sponsorship of

(i) Deaf and Dumb football championship last year
(ii) Admiral Aikhomu Youth Football competition
(iii) Stella Obasanjo Female Football Competition.
(Iv) Queen Football Club to participate in all female football league.
(7) Training of Edo State Gymnasts in a 2-week German Training Course in April, 2008.

(8) Sponsorship of athletes to the Under -18 National Boys and Girls Basketball championship in May, 2008

(9) The Hockey Association was sponsored to the male & female National Super League in February 2008.

(10) Took Tennis players and officials to the Central Bank of Nigeria Tennis Championship in Lagos.

(11) Took Edo State Volley Ball Association to the National Division One Volleyball League in May 2008.
