EDHA passes resolution on ETS
Edo State House of Assembly yesterday in Benin City passed a resolution that Mr. Frank Unuigbe resumes office as the Assistant General Manager, (AGM) of Edo Transport Service (ETS), operators of Edo Line.
This resolution flowed from a motion moved to that effect by the Majority Leader, Hon. Frank Okiye during the consideration of the report of the House Standing Committee and Transport on a petition titled: “An Appeal to Enter My Office,” written and signed by Mr. Unuigbe.
The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Zakawanu Garuba also announced the constitution of an Ad Hoc Committee comprising Hon. Peter Aliu as chairman as well as Hon. Emma Okoduwa and Hon.
Christopher Adesotu as members to look into the debt profile, funds and number of vehicles of the transport company and whether Union Bank Plc had the legal right to go into the establishment.
Hon. Okiye, the Minority Whip, Hon. Philip Shaibu Hon. Peter Aliu, Hon. Emma Okoduwa, Hon. Bright Omokhodion, the Minority Whip and Hon. Kingsley Ehigiamusor made their contributions during the debate.Meanwhile the Commissioner for Education, Dr. (Mrs.) Ngozi Osarenren and the Commissioner for Energy and Water Resources also appeared again before the House of Assembly to present their briefs.
During the briefing by the Commissioner for Education, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Zakawanu Garuba said there was a petition from one Mike Oriase on high-handedness of the National Examination Council (NECO) on the issue of result of its last examination.
The legislators stressed the need for the state Ministry of Education to make effort towards releasing the results of Edo state candidates that were cancelled and to wade into the work-to-rule action by some teachers.
Rt. Hon. Garuba later referred the petition to the House Standing Committee on Education which was given one week to submit its report on the petition.
