Oshiomhole tasks royal fathers on projects
Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has charged the royal fathers in the state to show interest in the ongoing roads and other projects in their communities with a view to ensuring that the projects are done to specification.
The Governor spoke yesterday at the inauguration of a 45-member Council of Traditional Rulers with the Omo N’Oba Erediauwa, the Oba of Benin as chairman.
The Governor said “I ask you to show interest in these projects and if you notice anything not seemingly good, please feel free to mention it.
He noted that the cultural values of the people are critical and charged the council members to ensure the preservation of the rich cultural values of Edo people.
He observed that traditional rulers remain custodians of the nation’s culture, being cherished all over the world.
The governor promised to continue to consult and rely on the wise counsel of the Royal Fathers “as much as possible”.
Also inaugurated were the Edo Arts Council, Tourism Board, Edo Line Board and Edo Courier Service Boards.
The Governor admonished the members to initiate ideas that would move their organizations forward, while noting that the government will not interfere with their activities, just as he said that a board like Edo Line requires an overhaul.
Responding on behalf of the Council of Traditional Rulers and Chiefs, the second vice chairman and the Enogie of Ekpoma, Zaike Abumeri pledged their loyalty to the governor.
In the same vein, the chairmen of the various boards inaugurated promised on behalf of their members to contribute their quotas to repositioning their various establishments.
