Oshiomhole assures Ijaw of Govt's presence
Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has assured all ethnic groups in the state of even distribution of amenities.
Comrade Oshiomhole stated this when the Ijaws from the state paid him a visit in his office yesterday.
According to the Governor, “I want to assure you that we will continue to employ and ensure that Ijaw communities are well reflected in the Edo State Civil Service. Right now, we have lifted the embargo on employment and they are currently conducting interviews. You should encourage your people who are eligible to apply to ensure that they have their own fair share of the opportunities that exist”.
On roads the Governor said “we have impressed on NDDC on the need to do the Ofunama road. What we need to do now is not remedial measures but to persuade the NDDC to give out the contract as quickly as possible so that the construction work can commence”.
Comrade Oshiomhole admitted that education is the bed rock of any development, stressing that government is posting teachers to all school in the 18 local government areas of the state, just as he said that government is working to renovate the schools to ensure a conducive environment for learning.
He appealed to them to continue to work on the side of peace and ensure a conducive atmosphere for oil companies as the government looks into the issue of shut oil wells.
