Oshiomhole flags off Jattu, Ibie roads


In his avowed determination to improve the economic life of the people of the State, Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole Wednesday flagged off the construction of the Jattu-Ayua and Jattu-South Ibie roads in Etsako West Local Government area of the State.

Speaking on the occasion, Comrade Oshiomhole said the 6.4 km Jattua-Ayua road to cost N1.8 billion and the 4.5km Jattu-South Ibie road to cost N1billion would link the three major clans in the area and facilitate the socio-economic life of the people.

According to the Governor, “we have decided to extend to the rural areas to turn the lives of the people in the communities around and through the construction of these roads, the youths will be offered employment opportunities in the private sector”.

The Governor enjoined the youths to continue to support and collaborate with the contractors handling the road projects.

He expressed confidence that the construction of the roads will be completed within the first tenure of his administration, adding that the road network would promote inter-communal relations.

Comrade Oshiomhole maintained that the roads will be properly constructed and maintained to ensure that it stands the test of time.

“We cannot fight rural poverty if rural areas are cut off from urban areas and to integrate the rural economy into the national economy requires that rural roads are built and built properly” he noted.

The Governor noted that the roads are well designed with drainages, urging them to continue to support government.
