Oshiomhole opens new political phase - Idahosa
The Political Adviser to Edo State Government, Hon. Charles Idahosa has said that with the successful conduct of the first free and fair re-election in Edo State, the Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has opened a new phase of political freedom where the people will have confidence on the ballot box.
The political adviser declared that with the defeat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by the Action Congress (AC) in the Etsako Central re-run election, the people now know that their vote will count.
According to him, the undemocratic imposition of candidates on the people in the state is finished.
He said that voting on behalf of the people by fierce looking thugs and trained election riggers as well as the era of political arrogance and over-lordship is finished.
“This is the heritage of a statesman and a man of great faith in the power of the people to direct the course of leadership. The Adams Oshiomhole heritage”, he added.
The political adviser noted that it is widely acknowledged that Edo State and her people have been groaning under the suffocating political grip of a godless clan of greedy political adventurers under the leadership of Chief Tony Anenih.
He said successive administrations, particularly that of Chief Odigie Oyegun, Chief Lucky Igbinedion and most recently, that of Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor will not be in hurry to forget their confrontation with the political behemoth and his parasite band of loyalists and hangers on, adding that admittedly, each of them may have had their weak points and inadequacies but the leader ensured that over-bearing demands were made on each one of them.
He noted further that the state suffered most as distractions created by the pressures on the state Chief Executives resulted in performances that were apparently less than their actual capacities and competence.
“In Edo State, Chief Tony Anenih made all critical decisions on behalf of the party, including the selection of who becomes governor, Senators, council chairman, and what have you from the comfort of his bedroom. His decisions were final”, he added.
According to Hon. Idahosa, the leader made a terrible mistake of his life at a gathering of the PDP at Ewohimi by firing scurrilous missiles at the wrong target.
He said the backlash hit the leader and his party like thunder-bolt.
“Thousands of PDP members crossed over to the AC in what was rightly tagged: “Political Tsunami” and the leader has since been stripped naked and demystified by the virulent campaign championed by Comrade Oshiomhole against the evil of godfatherism which Chief Anenih symbolizes”, the political adviser disclosed.
