Oshiomhole Has Laid Labour Party (LP) Feud to Rest - Adams Aliu

The Edo State Publicity Secretary of Labour Party, (LP), Sir (Barr) Adams Aliu (KSJ; JP) has explained that the seeming crisis which gave rise to a faction of the party in Edo State was due to misinformation and minor misunderstanding stating however, that the matter had finally been laid to rest by the Comrade Governor’s intervention.

The publicity scribe of the Labour Party in Edo state asserted that “ab initio, there was actually no crisis but a minor misunderstanding, wherein some aggrieved members, based on incorrect information that the tenure of the State Executive had expired, thought they had the right to organize a replacement for the Exco”.Continuing, Adams Aliu said, “the Comrade Governor stepped into the matter on Wednesday, January 6, 2010, held a 4-hour meeting with the delegations of the parties involved, 5 members on each side, at Government House and made the aggrieved party to realize that it is only the National Exco that could organize congress to change the State Exco, and that Ward and local government Executives of the party could equally be changed through the same process if they had overstayed their tenure, saying that at the appropriate time, the National Executive will come to organize the congress”.

According to Adams Aliu, as a consequence of the resolution, both sides, on Friday, January 8, 2010, in the presence of Edo NLC and Trade Union Congress (TUC) officers hugged themselves, buried the hatchet and issued a communiqué that the affairs of the party should revert to status quo ante, with the current executive holding sway, without any faction attempting to replace it.

On Edo State government’s modest efforts in redressing the decay in infrastructure and restoring Benin City master plan, Adams Aliu berated critics of the state government and explained that what is in vogue today is to broaden the right of way, to enable motorists enter the city centre through dual carriage way”.

“Dualisation is the in-thing now, if the road is widened, it is not for the Governor to farm on it, but to ease traffic and beautify the environment. Barrister Aliu declared.

On Yar Adua’s health, the Edo state Publicity Scribe of LP maintained that the poor management of the information regarding the President’s health had given rise to suspicious saying it was not in the best interest of the country and tasked information managers in the presidency to be proactive on the issue.
