THURSDAY, FRIDAY DECLARED CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS


Thursday December 24 and Friday December 25 have been declared public holidays by the Federal Government to mark the Christmas celebrations. Friday January 1, 2010 was also declared a public holiday to mark the New Year.

Making the declaration yesterday on behalf of President Umaru Musa Yar’adua, Interior Minister Dr Shettima Mustapha called on Nigerians to use the period to reflect on the solemn nature of the season and “work to attain peace, love, salvation for ourselves and fellow man as Jesus Christ preached.”

In a statement by Assistant Director Press in the Ministry of Interior Stephen Nelson, the minister wished Nigerians successful celebrations also called for prayers for the rapid recovery of President Yar’adua.
