OSHIOMHOLE LEADS EDO DELEGATION ON VISIT TO PRESIDENT

Governor Adams Oshiomhole and Chief Tony Anenih will today temporarily bury their political differences as the Governor leads eminent citizens of the State on an official visit to the President, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

The Governor, who shunned political sentiments invited leaders of the state across political divide, the academia and the business community for the official visit, including Chief Tony Anenih of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP)

According to an impeccable source, some of the issues that the Edo delegation may likely discuss with President Jonathan include federal assistance from the ecological fund for the erosion-ravaged sites in Auchi, Ekpoma and Queen Ede, in Benin City.

The source also told our reporter that the delegation will seek federal assistance to beef up security in the state, especially in the area of marine patrol; reimbursement of funds spent by the state government on federal roads and the intervention of the President on some oil wells in dispute.

Aside Chief Tony Anenih, the three members representing the state in the Senate:  Senator Yisa Braimoh, Edo North (PDP);  Senator Odion Ugbesia, Edo Central (PDP) and Senator Ehigie Uzamere, Edo South (PDP)are also part of the delegation.

Others are Admiral Mike Akhigbe (rtd); former Governors of the State, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun and Chief Lucky Igbinedion; three members of the House of Representatives;  Tunde Akogun, Samson Osagie and Patrick Obahiagbon and Speaker the state House of Assembly, Bright Omokhodion.

The Chief Judge of the State,  Hon. Justice Cromwell Idahosa;  Chief S. O. U. Igbe, mon, the  Iyase of Benin Kingdom, Chief Tom Ikimi and Chief Ikhide Arumemi-Johnson, Chairman, Arik Air are also part of the delegation.
