EDO GOV SWEARS-IN LAW COMMISSION, OTHER BOARDS

Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole says his administration has taken up the task of giving every Edo Citizen the opportunity to contribute his quota to the development of the state.

He stated this Tuesday at the swearing-in of members of the Law Review Commission and the Inauguration of six Boards at the Government House in Benin City .

He however noted that anyone that misuses the opportunity to undermine the interest of the people will be shown the way out.

According to the governor, “the job of the Law Review Commission is a very important one. They are to change our laws and they need to bring them in conformity to the democratic laws and ensure that lapses of the law are corrected”.

Also, the Governor who inaugurated members of the Waste Management Board urged them to ensure that the state feels the impact of their activities.

He said, “I decided that the Board be headed by a woman because as mothers more than any one of us, you readily appreciate the values of a clean environment . We have few challenges in the management of Waste in the state and given your commitment to our state, every local government should feel the impact of your activities and You must be seen to match words with action”.

To members of the Hospital Management Board, the governor said “Healthcare delivery is critical as one of those areas that are of importance to our people and it is central to our administration. We have selected you and your colleagues to help us reform our health delivery in the state, therefore you must ensure that if you are going to procure equipments it must be new ones” he added.

To members of the Pipeline Protection Committee he said the challenge of protecting the pipelines is a very challenging one noting that “you have to watch your members. Rather than being protectors, they should not be seen as vandals, adding that once it is evident that any of you is trying to misuse the opportunity to undermine the interest of the people of the state, we will resolve the matter in favour of the good people of the state”.

While addressing the Consumer Protection Committee , the governor urged the members to subject their action to due process.

He advised them to shun arbitrariness and ensure that the consumer is protected, adding that when they are in doubt , they should contact the relevant government agency.

According to Oshiomhole, ” the challenge of instilling discipline and ensuring that public places are kept clean is a very challenging one. The people cannot get full value for their money if the environment is in shambles”.

Responding , the Board Chairmen pledged to do their best to justify the confidence reposed in them.
