EDO GOVERNOR TASKS LGS ON DEVELOPMENT

A substantive Chairman and Vice-Chairman for Oredo Local Government Area, Mr Omorogieva Gbajumo and Mrs Joyce Osagie have been sworn-in with a charge to make meaningful impact on the lives of the citizens of the local Government.

Edo State governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole who gave the charge today in Government House, Benin-City said “the man there before had to leave because of the way he mismanaged the office. You have a duty to learn the right lessons. It is your turn to show governance is about the people and that the local chairman can touch the lives of the people in his locality. It is now your turn to make a difference, not your turn to perpetuate what went wrong before.”

The governor noted that the new chairman had acted commendably in the past as the acting chairman, adding that “that is why we had no difficulty in taking the decision we took today. He urged him to work amicably with the vice-chairman, adding “now you are strengthened by the fact that you now have a vice-chairman and so you have someone you can fall back on, delegate responsibility so that you alone don’t have to carry the burden. You have the opportunity to prove that man and woman, when they are paired can make a difference.”

Responding, Hon Gbajumo pledged to work assiduously to justify the confidence reposed in them.
Hon Gbajumo was appointed acting chairman on July 28th 2009 following the suspension of the former chairman, Hon Mike Ehima for abuse of office.
