OROBOSA OMO-OJO

 

Orobosa Omo Ojo (JP) is the Special Adviser to the Governor on Arts, Culture and Tourism. Born in Benin City, he attended St. Thomas Primary School and Baptist High School, both in Benin City. He then proceeded to Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi before going to the University of Ibadan.

He holds a National Diploma (OND), a Higher National Diploma (HND) and a Master’s degree in Publishing (MPCS). With a post graduation newspaper publishing experience of over 22years, Orobosa Omo Ojo is a journalist of international repute with an unblemished integrity for standing always for the truth. In 1988, he participated in the production of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s last book. In 1991, 1992, 1993 and 1994, he covered the Annual World Bank/IMF meetings in the United States of America and Spain as a member of the Bretton Woods Press Corps. In 1993, he was commissioned by the Nigerian Government to promote Nigeria’s investment potentials to international audience.

In 1994, he was appointed by Mobil Producing Nigeria Limited to conceptualize and design Mobil News as an external communication and branding tool. In 1999, he was appointed by the Edo State Government as Management Consultant to revitalize the Nigerian Observer after the newspaper had gone out of circulation for over 9months. In 2002, he founded the Midwest Times community Newspaper as the first professionally run community tabloid in South-South Nigeria. In 2003, he was given a royal assignment by the Benin Monarch- Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo; Oba Erediauwa to broadcast pictures and sounds of the world famous Igue festival to the world for the first time in the history of Benin Kingdom. Orobosa Omo Ojo is a personification of the rich cultural heritage of Edo State.
