Dr. GODWILL OGBOGHODO

Born in Benin City, he attended his primary, Secondary and Higher School Certificate (HSC) in the then Bendel State (now Edo State). He then went to the Obafemi Awolowo University where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in History/Political Science.

After this, he proceeded to the Careleton University, Ottawa, Canada for his Masters degree programme in Political Science before securing his doctorate degree in Political Science. In 1987, he returned back to the University of Benin where he studied Law and was called to the bar as a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. He has headed departments of Political Science both at the Bendel State University (Now Ambrose Alli University) Ekpoma, and the University of Benin.

He was Commissioner for Information, Social Development, Youth, Sport and Culture in Bendel State (1986); Agriculture and Natural Resources (1986-1989); and Education (1989-1990).

Dr. Ogboghodo briefly served as Presidential Liaison Officer (House of Representatives) in the Interim National Government in 1993. In 1996/97, soon after he voluntarily retired from the University of Benin, he provided critical research inputs to the work of the 25-man high-powered Committee on the Future of Higher Education in Nigeria on which he served as a member.

Dr Ogboghodo was one of the three facilitators at the National Political Reform Conference, for which he received a "Certificate of Commendation for his immense contribution to the success of the Conference. He served as a Full-Time Commissioner in the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, Abuja from November 2005 to November 2007. In December 2008, Dr. Ogboghodo was appointed Special Adviser, Office of the Governor, Edo State. In April 2009, he was appointed Principal Staff Officer to the Governor, which is his current office. As a Political Scientist, Administrator, Lawyer and Consultant, Dr. Ogboghodo readily makes his services available to his local community, his state of origin, the country of his birth and humanity in general.
