BENIN CITY – Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has officially inaugurated the Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) Registration under the Authority of the Joint Tax Board in collaboration with the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS).
The Edo State Police Command recorded 10.8% per cent reduction in crime in 2013.
This, the Police Command said it would improve upon in the year 2014.
It also expressed its readiness to improve on its proactive measures and review all its existing security strategies with a view to making the state more peaceful to live in and transact business.
This was contained in a comparative crime statistics of 2012 and 2013 released by the command’s Public Relations Office in Benin City.
No fewer than 5,000 rice farmers are to benefit from this year’s Federal Government-assisted dry season farming in Edo, under the Growth Enhancement Support (GES) Scheme.

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has debunked rumors making the round that he was fatally injured in an auto accident accident at Ewu, in Esan Central Local Government Area of the state on December 28, necessitating his being flown abroad for treatment.
Debunking the rumour that he was injured and flown abroad following the accident, while presiding over the first state executive council meeting for the year, yesterday, Oshiomhole reassured the people that he is well and alive and that he had every reason to give thanks to God.
Edo State Government has appealed to doctors in the state to shelve its planned strike scheduled for Monday 6th January, 2014.
In a statement by the State Head of Service, Mr Jerry Obazele, the Government said “the state experienced a warning strike by Medical Doctors in Government employment that lasted for an unprecedented period of five days. There is the threat of another strike from the 6th of January, 2014, by the same body without any trade dispute between the doctors and the state government.”
Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has commiserated with Prof Wole Soyinka on the death of his daughter, Iyetade, at the age of 48 after a brief illness.
In a condolence message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Peter Okhiria, Comrade Oshiomhole said “we learnt with a rude shock about the death of your beloved daughter, Iyetade. Our hearts are with you and the entire Soyinka family at this very difficult period.
