Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has commiserated with the matriarch of the Obafemi Awolowo family, Chief (Mrs) HID Awolowo, on the death of her daughter, Mrs Ayodele Olubusola Soyode (nee Awolowo) at the age of 66 after a brief illness.

In a condolence letter, Comrade Oshiomhole said “we learnt with a rude shock about the death of your beloved daughter, Mrs. Ayodele Olubusola Soyode after an illness. I wish to offer my profound condolence and the commiseration of the people and Government of Edo State.

“Our hearts are with you and her immediate family at this very difficult period for the Awolowo and Soyode households.

“While we grieve over the loss of ‘Mummy Apapa’, as she was fondly called, we take solace in thanking God for the worthy life that she lived as a mother, an accomplished solicitor, a diligent devotee of Christ and as an illustrious upholder of the deep piety of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo.

“We pray our Heavenly Father to give the Awolowo and Soyode families the courage to endure the loss of Mrs. Soyode. We also pray for the repose of her soul and for the abiding grace of the Lord.”
