Oshiomhole commends musician’s fight for masses
Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has commended a Benin-based musician, Mr. Osayomore Joseph, for using his music to speak against the ills of the society.
Speaking at the launch of an album “School of Oshiomhole”, the Governor said “I am very appreciative and I ask you to remain consistent on the side of the people. He has used his music to speak some hard truth to power without minding whose ox is gored. Because of his reputation, his voice carries weight, he has abused those he considers corrupt at a great risk to his own personal freedom.
According to him, “I urge you to remain consistent on the side of the people. Those in power are tenants, but the people are permanent and for as long as you are on the side of the people, with your music, even if the people are too poor to reward you, God in his infinite powers knows how to reward those who give voice to the voiceless”.
Eulogizing Osayamore, Oshiomhole said “his message has always been for the people. He has fought for them; he has argued on behalf of those he considered as victims of abuse of power. He has abused those he considered as corrupt.
Those in power may come and go but what is consistent is the people”.
Appreciating the contributions of his Royal Majesty the Oba of Benin Oshiomhole said “whatever achievements we have recorded would not have been possible but for the total and unqualified support of the Oba of Benin.
“Our political opponent tried to trivialize our projects and confuse the people. If today no one has taken us to court; if today our officials have not been attacked. It is because of the unqualified support of the Royal Majesty”, he noted.
