Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has asserted that he is not desperate about clinging on to power, but to serve the people and set them free from bondage of imposition by one man.

The governor who disclosed this weekend at Azama Primary School, Uzairue, Etsako West Local Government Area during the Action Congress of Nigeria rally, warned those planning to resort to violence in the forthcoming general elections next month to desist from such actions.

“I have no business in government if not to set our people free. I do not care if I serve one term, what matters to me is what I do for the people. But no man born of a woman can terminate my tenure, we will work with anyone but we will not bow to anyone,” he noted.

According to him, those planning to cause violence on election day should desist from it because, “ we are ready for them”.

Comrade Adams Oshiomhole maintained that governance means stewardship or servanthood and at the end they must report to the master who are the people.

“When I came to this venue in 2007, I said my mission in politics is that I refuse to accept that we are in a democracy where one man dictates to Afenmai people and the rest part of the state who should be elected to government. I said we are going to set our people free,” he added.

He said the 12 years of Peoples Democratic Party rule was a failure as seen from the dilapidated structures in schools, health centres, roads and lack of water for the people, adding that in two years, the schools have been transformed, roads are being constructed and water provided for the people.

The rally which drew a large turnout of party members witnessed the decamping of several members of the PDP to the Action Congress of Nigeria who publicly tore their PDP cards.

According to Alhaji Musa Garuba, a village head, they have decided to join the comrade governor in the good works he is doing for the state.

“The Apana road which was written off by the PDP has been constructed by the comrade governor when he came in last year,” he added.

A former House of Representative aspirant in PDP, Engr. Thankgod Irekpai said he is declaring for the Action Congress of Nigeria because he is convinced that he has to move to join Comrade Oshiomhole who has come to make a change. “The comrade governor is a bridge between promises and delivery”.

At the palace of the Ogieneni of Uzairue, the comrade governor was assured by the traditional ruler that all Uzairue will support him for all he is doing for the state.

“We are happy with all you have been doing. May God bless and give you strength,” the traditional ruler said and prayed for the candidates of the Action Congress of Nigeria in the forthcoming House of Assembly and National Assembly elections.
