EDSG set to provide new jobs

EKPOMA – Edo State Government has restated its resolve to commence another phase of massive employment to provide job opportunities for the teeming unemployed youths across the 18 local government areas in the state.

The state Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole made the disclosure in his address to officially launch the Esan West Youth Wing of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Ekpoma, the administrative headquarters of Esan West Local Government Area over the weekend.

Comrade Oshiomhole explained that the scheme is expected to employ 300 youths in Esan West Local Government Area upon its inception.

The governor noted that beneficiaries will be placed on salary scale that will be at par with the new National Minimum Wage, adding that it is his conviction that the state House of Assembly will accord the employment scheme the necessary support and legal impetus to enable it take off and address the challenges inherent in public works.

The governor maintained that the employment scheme will reduce the level of criminality amongst youths which will in addition, complement job opportunities that have been created through the on-going construction activities going on in the state.

On his part, the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bright Omokhodion expressed belief that the youths are in the vanguard of exposing the goals and vision of the party, noting that the present administration is on the verge of instituting scholarship scheme to ameliorate the pains of parents in the education sector.

Rt. Hon. Omokhodion, who urged youths to shun politics of money distribution by desperate politicians, observed that the comrade governor who is restoring hope in governance is working tirelessly to reverse the trend of underdevelopment in the state..
