People of Akuku community may now heave a sigh of relief as the Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has assured them of rebuilding the dilapidated and out of shape government primary school in the community to a modern-standard.

The Governor also assured the people of establishing a secondary school in the community so as to save their children the stress of travelling to far away Dagbala village to access secondary education.

Governor Oshiomhole gave the assurance when he paid attention to pupils of Akuku Primary School who were anxious and screaming with joy to see the Governor on sighting him while the Governor was on a tour to inspect the almost constructed several kilometers of road linking Igarra, Akuku, Akpama, Dagbala, Uneme-Osun, Ojirami-Dam, Ojirami-Oke, Ojah amongst other communities in the Akoko-Edo local government area.

The pupils became more excited to see the Governor when he stopped over in front of the school to observe the barricade danger lines at the failed portion of the road mounted by Hartland Construction Company handling the project. A senior official of the Construction Company said the barricade was mounted sequel to the flooding of the area due to the burst of an underground water line pipe which the senior official said has affected some portions of the road construction and therefore called on the Governor to contract officials of Water Board to relay the water line so as to enable them reconstruct the failed portion which the Governor promised to do.

Thereafter, Governor Oshiomhole went to see the pupils in their various classrooms where he first took them round some learning process by thus asking them to read what was written on the board and assessing their level of reasoning. Subsequently, the Governor asked them to make demands on what should be done for them.

The students demanded for the rebuilding of the primary school and the establishment of a secondary school in the community. The students said they have only private secondary school in the community which they said their parents cannot afford and as such they are made to travel on daily basis to Dagbala Village to attend government secondary school.

Governor Oshiomhole however said that the primary school would be rebuilt to conform with the government new standard of building and beautifying public schools in the state.

Speaking further, Governor Oshiomhole said the commissioner of Education would be directed to carry out a study as to know the population of students in the community is sufficient for the community to have a secondary school and if enough, government secondary school would therefore be established in the community.

The Governor Oshiomhole was however astonished when he visited the starting class of the school where the children mostly below three years of age could identify him so easily as the Edo State Governor and called him by name and other campaign names like Oshio-Baba, among others.
