SEEFOR employs 240 people

In a bid to reduce rising rate of unemployment, the World Bank assisted project known as State Employment and Expenditure For Results (SEEFOR) has hired over 240 Edo State Indigenes for its public works programme.

The workers who are made up of 40 graduates and 200 non graduates now bring to 1,500 the number of unemployed youth so far engaged by the body since February this year.

INEC to distribute permanent voters card in Edo

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will commence the distribution of the Permanent Voters Card in 13 states, including Edo State on Friday November 7, 2014 and will end on Sunday November 9, 2014.

In a release signed by the Head of Department (HOD) voter Education and publicity, Mr. Francis Ikefua for the Resident Electoral Commissioner also stated that the continuous voter Registration exercise will hold from Thursday November 13, Monday to November 17, 2014 in the 13 states.

$1bn Azura-Edo power plant kicks off

The foundation laying ceremony of the $1 billion Azura-Edo 1,000 megawatts gas-powered Independent Power Plant, will hold on Friday, 10th October, 2014.

The first phase of the project, which was conceptualized in 2010 and jointly incubated by the Edo State Government under Comrade Adams Eric Oshiomhole and Amaya Capital, the key promoters of Azura Power West Africa Ltd, is 450-500 mega watts to be scaled up to 1,000 megawatts in the second phase.
