The Ministry of Finance which is the chief financial institution of the state Government is headed by the Honorable Commissioner for Finance, Hon. J.O. Inegbedion while the administrative head and accounting officer is the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. M.E Omijeh.

| ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE: |
The Ministry of Finance is charged with the responsibilities of:
(i) Initiating and implementing the State Government financial
Policies;
(ii) It is the principal Accounting Ministry of the State Government. The Accounting functions are performed through the Treasury/Office of the Accountant-General;
(iii) It is the main revenue collecting Agent of the State
Government;
(iv) Monitoring of performance of Companies where the State Government has shares. This function is performed through the Ministry of Finance Incorporated which is the investment arm of the State Government.
(v) Attendance of Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) meetings;
(vi) Inspection and Monitoring of all Revenue collections;
(vii) Procuring and granting of loans etc;
(viii) Taxation;
(ix) Motor vehicle Licensing
(x) Boards of Survey and Boards of inquiring
2. The Ministry is organized into four Departments at the Headquarters and two Extra-Ministerial Departments as indicated hereunder;

OFFICE OF THE HONOURABLE COMMISSIONER
The Honourable Commissioner is the political Head and Chief Executive of the Ministry. His office is in charge of initiation and implementation of broad financial policy of the State Government.
OFFICE OF THE PERMANENT SECRETARY
This office assist the Honourable Commissioner in initiation and
implementation of broad financial policy of the State Government
The Permanent Secretary is also in charge of the general administration and is also the Accounting Officer of the Ministry. Thus, men and materials are vested in this office
DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATION AND SUPPLIES
The Department of Administration and Supplies is a service Department.
It is responsible for issues relating to appointment, discipline, training and
staff welfare, office accommodation, office furniture and equipment. Other
responsibility of the Department include compilation and maintenance of staff
records etc. The Open and Secret Registries are also under the Department.
DEPARTMENT OF REVENUE, INVESTMENT
The Department oversee Government Investments in various companies in which the State Government has shares. The Department is known as Ministry of Finance Incorporated and it was created by the Bendel State Law Cap 72 Vol III of 1965 (also applicable to Edo State).
DEPARTMENT OF DEBT MANAGEMENT
This Department assists in the formulation and implementation of the State Public Debt Strategy, Co-ordinate the management of the State Debt and the construction of the Data base of the State Debt Profile.
DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE AND ACCOUNTS
This Department is a service arm of the Ministries incharge of payment of salaries and other approved expenditure.
