Law Review Commission
The Law Review Commission was established pursuant to the Revised Edition, (Laws of the Edo State of Nigeria) Law 1991 with the mandate of reviewing the laws of the state and preparing a revised Edition thereof.
The Commission’s current Chairman is Oluwole Osamudiamen Iyamu Esq., a distinguished Legal Practitioner of many years post call experience who had his University Education in the University of Ife and was, before his appointment in active legal practice in Lagos. He played an active and pivotal role in the 18 months epoch making litigation that led to the Judicial Validation of the current administration in Edo State.
The Secretary of the Commission, A.O Okungbowa Esq. is a Legal Practitioner, a product of the same University of Ife, and a member of the Official Bar as well as a trained legislative draftsman from the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos with a Masters degree in Legislative Drafting.
The offices of the Commission are currently at Rooms 17-20 of the Civil Service Commission building, Sapele Road, Benin City.
Projections (Mission Statement). The Commission Leadership of its current Chairman is working assiduously subject to appropriate enabling legislations; towards being a full-fledged Law Reform Commission with the particular focus of reforming and redrafting and/or repealing obsolete, anachronistic, unworkable, unconstitutional and anti-people legislations which remains on the statute books of the state.
The Commission also hopes to work in collaboration with the House of Assembly and the State Ministry of Justice towards proposing people oriented, constitutionally consistent legislations which are in line with social needs and the socio-economic and political vision of the administration of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, Governor of Edo State.
