In recognition of the enormity of government's responsibilities to the people, the Governor Oserheimen Osunbor-led administration on assumption of office on May 29, 2007 divided the Education Ministry into two, namely: Basic and Higher Education Ministries for greater and efficient service delivery. In a period of one year, the state government has been able to achieve the following in the education sector;viz:
Massive renovation/reconstruction of dilapidated structures
in the public school system across the State

(vi) Eguare Primary School Opoji
(vii) Uwa Model Primary School, Ikhueniro
(viii) Ogbe Model Primary School, Benin City
(ix) Ogbeimode Primary School, Iruekpen
(x) St. Paul's Primary School, Benin City
* Recruitment of teachers and non-teaching staff into the public school system.
* Supply of 1561 sets of desks/benches to pulic schools across the state
* Prompt payment of salaries and allowances to all categories of staff - teaching and non-teaching.
* Payment of examination fee for students writing the 2008 Junior School Certificate Examination in public schools across the State.
* Installation of Data - Base Information System (EMI) for the Collation of Statistical data for Public Primary and Junior Secondary Schools in the State.
* Promotion of all category of teaching and non teaching staff in the public school system.
* Increased in subvention to public primary and Junior Secondary Schools across theState.
* Procurement and distribution of Science Equipment to public primary and junior secondary schools across the State.
* Procurement of brand new utility vehicles for the Ministry to enhance the monitoring and inspection of public and private schools across the State.
* Procurement of 10 Braille machines and instructional kits for Special Schools across the State.
* Procurement of 18 brand new Computer Sets and 3 brand new Photo-copy Machines to enhance service delivery in the Ministry.
* Revival and sponsorship of school sports competition in the State
* Provided One Billion Naira (N1 billion) guaranteed welfare package to workers in the Post Primary Education Board.
* Released the sum of Three Hundred and fifty million Naira (350 million) for accreditation of courses at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.
* Increased the monthly subvention to Ambrose University, Ekpoma from One Hundred Million Naira (N100 million) to One Hundred and forty million Naira (N140 million).
* Construction of male and female hostel of 74 rooms each as well as the sinking of borehole at the Edo State Institute of Technology and Management. Usen.
* Procurement of Special Education Equipment.
* Construction of Road networks within the ITM, Usen campus
* Release of the sum of N50 million being part of its take-off grant to the College
* Increase in the monthly subvention of College of Education. Ekiadolor from Fifteen million Naira (N 15 million) to Twenty Million ( N20 million).
* Provision of the sum of N80 million for the payment of Bursary Award to students in institutions of higher learning.
