DEPARTMENTS IN THE BOARD


ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT

The functions of the Department are made up of the following

(A) Carry out detailed design of the project
(b) Preparing cost estimates and tender documents in respect of projects to be carried out
(c) Inspection and testing rural electrification projects
(d) Revising and improving on existing designs and assisting in electrical engineering development planning
(e) Taking charge of technical scrutiny of power development proposals in the State
(f) Conducting technical appraisal of electricity distribution projects and ensuring standardization and compliance with the appropriate electricity regulation
(g) Advising the Board on the formulation, execution and review of policies and programs on matters relating to electrical engineering in the State.
(h) (viii) Assisting on-the- job-training of junior staff
 

DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATION

The functions of the Department are made up of the following:

(A) Has the responsibility for the recruitment of personnel into the Board
(b) In charge of all staff matters, i.e. posting, training, discipline, promotion, etc.
(c) Act as the Board’s Secretariat for the Board’s Board meetings, management meetings and operational meeting
(d) Act as custodian of all the Board’s personnel file and other records
(e) Assist the Engineering Department in the process of contract award such as placement of advertisement, tender analysis and approval requests, preparation of contract documents including formal contract agreements, etc.
(f) Assist the Engineering Department in arranging official commissioning of completed projects
(g) In charge of the Board’s legal matters where necessary or applicable
(h) Any other functions that may be assigned to the Department

DEPARTMENT OF ACCOUNTS

The functions of the Department are made up of the following:

(A) Raising payment vouchers for both capital and recurrent expenditures
(b) In charge of preparation of payment of salaries and wages of the Board’s personnel
(c) Preparing periodic/annual financial report of the Board and raising timely submission of monthly financial statements to the Accountant General’s Office
(d) Taking charge of internal Audit unit
(e) Attending to and ensuring prompt reply to Audit queries/reports

ACHIEVEMENTS

Before the inception of this administration, the Board has executed a number of projects. During the period under review, the Board planned, designed and awarded 11 Rural Electricity Project, including:

(i) Bulk purchase of Transformers and Feeder Pillars.
(ii) Revalidation of Odighi Rural Electricity Project which was initially awarded in 2007. The Contractor has been given his outstanding payment and has since mobilized to site to complete the work.

Out of the 11 projects awarded during the period, three (3) have been complete. These are:

(i) Bulk purchase of Transformers and Feeder Pillars.
(ii) Sasaro Rural Eletrification Project.
(iii) Ekpenada Rural Eletrification Project.
In addition, the State Government, through the Board, distributed Transformers and Feeder Pillars to 20 Communities within the State, in order to boost their Electricity supply.
