COMRADE OSHIOMHOLE OPENS DATA CENTRE


 The Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, today commissioned the state of the art, ultra modern data centre for Edo State. The commissioning by the Comrade Governor included people like the Deputy Governor (Hon. Pius E. Odubu), Secretary to the State Government (Hon. Pally Iriase), Head of Service, Chief of Staff, Special Advisers, Commissioners, e.t.c.

Speaking at the formal opening, the Executive Director of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) unit,:- Yemi Keri (Mrs.) explained that the data centre would hold all the data relating to Edo State including the Biometric data of every worker employed by the state government amongst other sensitive information. She emphasized the importance of the data in terms of ensuring a safer and faster delivery of quality service. She explained that quality of the equipments and the security was top factors that were taken into consideration while constructing the centre. Comrade Adams Oshiomhole stated that with the commissioning of the data centre, Edo State is now fully set to blaze a path in Information and Communications Technology and also is fulfilling his vision for a paperless administration in Edo State.

The data centre which will hold all electronic data of the state has state of the art equipments like:

The latest HP blade server with a monitor screen that allows the administrator to access and control all the servers.
60KVA U.P.S that can withstand power outage for up to one week.
Fire extinguishers
All network connections to the server are fibre optic cables.
The data centre is the biggest of its kind in southern Nigeria
