Mr. John Osagie Inegbedion, Commissioner for Finance

An exceptional team player with good interactive skills graduated from Edo State University Ekpoma where he bagged a B.Sc Accounting and later University of Benin for Masters in Banking & Finance. He is an associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). He is well skilled in developing and implementing standardized procedures and policies with background in accounting, economics, banking and proficiency in banking software.
John Osagie hails from Igueben local government area and can be described as a technocrat. He was formerly Head, Branch Operations, Head of Credit and Marketing, Head of Credit and Marketing/Branch Manager, Relief Regional Manager and Senior Manager. He has also attended professional courses which included Financial Crimes & Money Laundering.

  Ministry of Finance is charged with the responsibilities for:
Financial policies;
Investments and Loans;

Advances and Banking;

State Revenue and Expenditure Accounts;
Supervision of the Office of the Accountant-General;
Parastatals
Board of Internal Revenue:
 
 

MANDATE

 

Generate adequate revenue internally to meet the developmental progress of the Edo State Government.

 

POLICY OBJECTIVE

  To explore all internally generated revenue avenues open to government. To regularize and ensure accountability as well as proper tracking of all revenue generation to government.
 

OTHER STRATEGIES UNDERWAY

  Automation of the entire revenue collection process to include tax payer's identification code, development of tax payee data base, electronic tax and levies assessment mechanism, electronic or e-revenue payment system and automated car registration process.
