
Hon. Abdul Shaibu Oroh, Commissioner for Art and Culture
Ivbiaro born activist, lawyer, journalist and lawmaker has a post garduate of Mass Communication from the University of Leicester, England. An alumnus of the prestigious Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Lagos was a member of the House of Representatives, in 2003-2007 when he represented Owan East Federal Constituency.
A man of charisma and political sagacity attended the Lagos State University, Ojo where he bagged an LLB Honours and latter BL, Nigerian Law School, Bwari, Abuja. He was until his appointment, a Counsel, Ricky Tarfa & Company chambers, Abuja and Chairman, Homeland Initiatives Limited.

Abdul Oroh attended several courses in the build up to his present political career and they ranged from Three-Part Professional Foundation Courses on Alternative Dispute Resolution, World bank & DFID Workshop on Effective Communication as a Poverty Reduction Strategy in Paris; Commonwealth Parliamentary Association UK Branch seminar on talking corruption, Upholding Human Rights, The Role of the Media, London; Training on Millennium Development Goal; Capacity Building Workshop on Legislative process; The Role of the Ombudsman in Improving Public Service among others.
He also held more than a few positions before now such as Member, Presidential Committee on the Lagos Bomb Explosion Relief Fund; Member, National Core Team to draft Interim Poverty Reduction Strategy paper, Economic Policy Coordinating Committee; Deputy Chairman, transition Monitoring Group (1998-2002); Member, Association of Professional Negotiators and Mediators and Member, Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) among others.
During Abdul Oroh’s assignment at the House of Representatives, he was the Deputy Chairman, Human Rights Committee; Member, House Committee on Army, Police, Judiciary, Justice, Information, media and Public Affairs; Member, House Ad hoc committee on review of the police act; Chairman, Ad hoc Committee on Freedom of Information Bill; Member, Commonwealth parliamentary Association working group on Freedom of Information Legislation; Member, Presidential Committee on Prisons Reform and Member, National Assembly Conference Committee on the harmonization of the Freedom of Information Bill.
