Royal father confers chieftaincy title on Oshiomhole By EUBALDUS ENAHORO

BENIN CITY – The Governor of Edo, State Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has been conferred with the chieftaincy title of Ozemoya of Uneme land by HRH Godfrey Ugbodaga, Oliola of Anegbette and Clan Head of South Uneme for his giant strides in the development of Edo State.

The people and traditional leaders in Etsako Central, who trooped out in their thousands to welcome the state governor during a visit to Anegbette, Udaba and Oghomere communities while campaigning for the Action Congress candidate, Hon. Johnny Oghuma in the Saturday re-run House of Assembly election, thanked the governor for the road, electricity and water projects being embarked upon by the state government in their communities.

There was excitement and a sign of restored confidence on the faces of the people whose communities have been neglected for the past ten years, but within the first year in office, the Comrade Governor has kept to his promise, thereby springing hope alive, again.

At the Palace of the Oliola of Anegbette, the traditional ruler expressed the appreciation of his people for the Ekperi – Anegbette road contract that was flagged-off by the Comrade Governor recently, noting that to honour such a man, it is only auspicious to confer on him the title of Ozemoya, which literally means, ‘ taking the people out of suffering’

Also, the people of Oghomere, the headquarters of Ward Seven, made up of six villages, namely: Oghomere, Ogbago, Ogochi, Okpenada, Otsuko and Odame said they will forever be grateful to the government of Comrade Oshiomhole because ‘since the existence of this world, no government has ever considered bringing development to the people as has been demonstrated by the Comrade Governor’.

According to the traditional rulers and the people of Ward Seven, “we thank you sufficiently for your effort in bringing succour to the people by way of the construction of electricity to four villages of Oghomere, Ougbago, Ogochi and Okpenada, and the Ugbekpe-Anegbette road which will also pass through these villages.

“Your Excellency, let us now inform you that if there is any ward where AC will record one hundred per cent, it is ward seven and we are not a people who are ungrateful to God,” they noted.

Similarly, the people of Udaba Community commended Comrade Oshiomhole for proving beyond reasonable doubt that governance is about impacting positively on the lives of the governed, that leadership is a shared responsibility.

“Just within a year of the inauguration of your administration in the state you have demonstrated that it is possible to build the Nigeria of our collective dream, that good governance is not founded on empty promises, and if an administration must succeed it must carry the people along,” they said, adding that the development of a people is measured by good road networks, which goes to show that the people’s taxes are part of the financial base of the state, to be used for their benefit,” they noted

The state Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole informed the various communities of his desire to develop the rural communities, because according to him, the interest of villages is deep in his heart.

He however assured them that when they vote for the Action Congress that has the broom symbol on Saturday , they will be voting for development and chasing poverty and darkness away from their communities

On the re-run election he charged the people to come out to cast their votes, stressing that they should be vigilante and not allow people from outside the local government area to interfere with the voting process, which should be by one man, one vote.
