Edo State Government, through its skills development agency, EdoJobs, has successfully marked the completion of its paid internship and apprenticeship program, stream ten (10), for youths in the state.

A total of 200 youths completed the three-month internship and apprenticeship program and acquired firsthand knowledge of how organizations operate, as well as soft skills and technical experience in a real work environment aimed at enriching their knowledge and enhancing their competencies and overall employability.

Speaking on the success of the programme, The Managing Director of EdoJobs, Mrs. Violet Obiokoro, congratulated the beneficiaries and urged them not to relent in their quest for success and growth, advising them to take the internship and apprenticeship experience as a stepping stone to build their careers.

Obiokoro added that the Edo job centers located across the three senatorial districts of the state would always be available to welcome them into more  opportunities relevant to their career growth and success.

Obiokoro stated that the internship and apprenticeship program was established to tackle unemployment across all local government areas of the state. Since its inception in 2018, the program has impacted over 2000 Edo youths with a track record of 70% retention rate.  According to the Managing Director, the agency will continue to provide these opportunities so youths in the state can get the opportunity to become relevant in the workforce.

The program captured youths spread across Edo North, Edo Central, and Edo South with over 50% of this stream 10  beneficiaries already retained by their respective organization where they had interned for the three months period  so far.

It gave qualified candidates, who have little or no experience in the corporate world, the opportunity to work within the organization for a duration of three months to gain valuable work skills and experience.

“EdoJobs will continue the program, and application for stream 11 will commence in the month of May, 2023.  We urge youths within the state to take advantage of this opportunity and all other Edojobs opportunities.

Also expressing appreciation was a beneficiary Becky Obarisiagbon who applauded the state government for the opportunity on behalf of herself and other beneficiaries.

She stated that she would always be grateful for all the support and benefits they have enjoyed and still enjoy from the scheme.

Edo State Government is committed to improving the livelihood of Edo youths by providing sustainable opportunities for youths of the State to acquire relevant skills and experience in the workforce, and the Edojobs Internship and Apprenticeship scheme is one of such testament to this commitment.
