Dr. Pius Egberanmwen Odubu
Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Pius Egberanmwen Odubu (B.L) is married with 4 children, a Barrister and Solicitor at Law of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, having been called to the bar in October 1986. He is from the human collectivity called Urhomehe in Urhonigbe North Ward, Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State.
For his primary education he attended St. Pius Primary School, Urhomehe before proceeding to Immaculate Conception College, Benin City, Edo State where he was a recipient of an academic scholarship award from the then Benin Area Joint Board.
After his secondary education, he proceeded in 1977 at the tender age of 19 to U.S.A. to further his educational pursuit. While in the U.S.A., he attended:
1. Philandersmith College, Little Rock Arkansas
2. Southern University, Baton Rouge Louisiana
3. Southern University School of Law Baton Rouge Louisiana
4. Georgetown University Law Centre, Washington D.C.
He holds a B.A. (Hons) in Political Science, Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree in Law, Master of Law in International and Comparative Law.
He returned to Nigeria in 1985 and went straight to the Nigeria Law School, Lagos and was called to the Nigerian Bar in October, 1986.
Rt. Hon. (Dr) Pius Egberanmwen Odubu is the recipient of several Honour and scholarship awards among which are:
• National Dean’s List (U.S.A.)
• Member – WHO is WHO in American Universities
• College Marshal (Best Student) – College of Arts and humanities - Southern University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, U.S.A. May, 1980.;
• Member – Board of Editors: Southern University Law Review -The first non-American to hold the said position.
• Member Southern University School of Law Moot Court Board - The first non-American to belong to same.
• Managing Editor, Southern University Law Review. Also the first non-American to hold same.
